Edward Cruz
Founder & CEO
Edward is the Founder and CEO of VolunteerCoin, originally from Modesto, California. He studied Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina and Nonprofit Management at Columbia University, blending storytelling, strategy, and purpose into his leadership. Edward is driven by a belief that there’s work that needs to be done and people willing to do it — we just need the systems to bring them together.
Before founding VolunteerCoin, he led community initiatives like Free + Clean, which offered free cleaning services to local residents, and storiesaregood, a documentary project preserving the stories and histories of community members. Outside of work, Edward enjoys philosophy, nature, and exploring the frontiers of technology, healing, and human experience.
Dejon Jones
Co-Founder & CTO
Dejon is a Stanford University graduate in Electrical Engineering from Newark, New Jersey, passionate about building technology that creates real-world impact. As VolunteerCoin’s Chief Technology Officer, he leads the platform’s technical vision and development, ensuring the technology grows in step with the mission.
At Stanford, Dejon worked on projects in medical imaging, renewable energy, FPGA systems, and real-time audio tech, building a strong foundation in both hardware and software. Beyond VolunteerCoin, he runs a STEM tutoring business, produces music as Djtoowavy, and coaches youth football — bringing creativity, mentorship, and a team-first mindset into everything he does.
